Join our Platform Operations Team

This top-level team operates within Platform Operations to provide enhanced support on technically
diverse subject matter in a highly available distributed network environment. This globally distributed team interacts with a variety of departments and collaborators to safely and securely deliver Akamai's content and applications.

Partner with the best

As a Senior Platform Operations Engineer you will contribute to a top-level operations team that
handles complex escalations from a variety of sources. This role requires in-depth knowledge of
proprietary services in addition to a big picture understanding of the entire infrastructure.

As a Senior Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in various subject matter areas
    (networking, high availability storage, performance, and proprietary systems).
  • Handling escalations from multiple sources including NOCC, AkaTec (customer care),
    Engineering, and Service Performance.
  • Participating in Service Incidents as SME or in another appropriate role to mitigate and resolve
    platform incidents.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create technical solutions and support ongoing
    implementation of network improvements.
  • Promoting operational best practices by improving tools, alerts, and documentation to maintain
    the integrity of the Akamai network.
  • Training and mentoring Platform Operations staff to develop the overall knowledge and skills of
    the entire department.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 8 years relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant related technical field
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Linux/Unix, TCP/IP internetworking/WAN data communications as
    well as understanding of routing concepts.
  • Have expertise in detailed debugging, log analysis, and troubleshooting often in critical time
    sensitive situation
  • Possess experience with scripting such as Perl, Python, SQL and/or a desire to learn.
  • Be a team player, able to collaborate, prioritize, and solve problems in an ever-changing environment.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $93,656 - $140,803/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
