GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Working collaboratively with the Executive Director of Orthopaedics, Sr. Administrative Director of Business & Academic Operations, and under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Programs and Orthopaedic Advanced Practice Providers, the Orthopaedic Education Program Manager will develop and implement dynamic continuing education programs for MGB faculty, fellows, residents and advanced practice providers (PAs, NPs) in accordance with our department's mission of excellence in education. The goal of these unique educational programs is to increase the knowledge, professional competencies and technical skills of all who attend, which will ultimately lay the foundation for future interdisciplinary integrated care of the Orthopaedic population in our rapidly changing world of health care.
Outreach and marketing are integral components of this role to engage interprofessional disciplines in the community at large, nationally and internationally, to enhance expert provider participation in programs presented, as well as increase learner attendance. The Education Program Manager will be accountable to the timeliness and thoroughness of projects, as he/she will facilitate information requests, create agendas for meetings, and monitor project progress and outcomes.
The Education Program Manager will be responsible for developing effective educational programs in the specialty of Orthopaedics, including topics relevant to our 9 subspecialties: oncology, foot & ankle, hand & upper extremity, joint replacements, pediatrics, shoulder, spine, sports medicine, and trauma. The manger will oversee all program activities and details including but not limited to course design and objectives, faculty selection, coordination of educational strategic meetings, record keeping of program participants, deliverables and revenue.
The Education Program Manager must be a skilled multi-tasker with excellent time management and organizational skills as he/she will be managing multiple projects and supporting various members of the Orthopaedic department at one time. He/she should be eager to work in a team-oriented environment and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, since this role will interface with individuals throughout the MGB organization, community and internationally. This program manager will be the face of the Orthopaedic department's mission to educate and create a culture of teaching excellence, which will provide a stairway to higher lifelong education for our staff and MGB community.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
