We are seeking a self-motivated and productive Senior Systems Administrator to work on new and exciting products. Akamai's application acceleration systems aim to improve the performance and reliability of how applications perform over U.S. Government networks. You'll work with some of the industry's top engineers, building one of the world's largest distributed systems.

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across the organization
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining RHEL configurations and environments while developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining scripts (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.) for automating tasks, system monitoring, and configuration management
  • Monitoring RHEL systems for security vulnerabilities and implementing appropriate remediation measures while performing security audits and assessments
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate cybersecurity best practices into RHEL and develop/implement security policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for security incidents as well as on-site support for infrastructure and user-base
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies including SRGs and STIGs
  • Focusing on additional technologies like: DNS, Elasticsearch, IDM/LDAP, NFS, Satellite, TCP/IP, Tenable

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 8 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Have proven experience as a Linux system administrator, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Demonstrate proficiency in scripting languages, networking concepts/protocols, and configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef
  • Have a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability scanners, knowledge of IDS/IPS, and firewalls
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Have US citizenship and a US Government Secret security clearance

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $102,973 - $154,614/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
