Job Objective: Performs skilled mechanical repairs in an industrial manufacturing environment that includes a diverse assortment of manufacturing and facilities machinery, equipment, and systems.

3rd Shift: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs maintenance and repairs on plant machinery, equipment and systems. This includes basic adjustment, alignment, installation, modification, monitoring and troubleshooting. Performs all maintenance tasks and other duties required to minimize machinery and equipment downtime.

  • With minimal supervision, construct, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant and process equipment. Examine worn/broken parts to determine cause of failure and replace as necessary.

  • Perform PM and PdM tasks on plant machinery and equipment with a focus on improving performance of mechanical systems.

  • Completes paperwork or computer documentation related to job functions, or as directed by supervisor or lead maintenance person(s).

  • Uses inventory control system for retrieving items from inventory stock rooms in performance of assigned duties. Communicates with MRO technician(s) as needed to identify stockroom issues and to maintain proper inventory levels.

  • Follows directions when assisting engineering staff on equipment modifications or upgrades. Basic ability to read, understand and follow blue prints and other machine documents.

  • Monitors work performed by contractors as needed.

  • Ability to learn the set up and operation of shop equipment, such as lathe, milling machine, drill press, welding, cutting or other metal or woodworking equipment.

  • Observes gauges, meters, and recording devices and reports deficiencies to qualified personnel.

  • Perform basic plumbing installations including water and compressed air piping.

  • Possess aptitude and willingness to learn basic electrical tasks in performance of assigned duties.

  • Must maintain personal tool set to perform basic job functions.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel of any incidents or situations that would trigger implementation of the contingency plan.

  • May perform emergency response duties as required by the department supervisor or manager.

  • Move chemicals and or wastes within the facility and maintain chemical storage areas in a clean, orderly manner. Follows applicable Environmental Health and Safety department procedures.

  • Supports the Policy commitments of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.

  • All other duties as requested.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Five (5) years of experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance, vocational experience or related environment.

  • Ability to read and understand diagrams and drawings.

  • Proficient technical skills including ability to utilize gauges, meters, calipers, micrometers and other mechanical measurement devices and troubleshooting tools.

  • Proficient communication skills.

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Decision making skills and ability to prioritize tasks

  • Ability to learn, understand, retain and apply mechanical knowledge in a machine maintenance environment
