Business Unit Overview

This position is part of Novanta's Corporate and Shared Services global teams. Novanta's Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company's strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization's financial success.

Summary

As a key team member supporting the Novanta Senior Leadership Team, this role provides human resources leadership and daily support across the Corporate and Shared Services global teams. The HR Director position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management within the corporate function organizations. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively between the business management and the HR Functional organization, the HR Director seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position develops partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HR Director maintains an effective level of business literacy about the organizations financial position, its long-term plans and its culture and competition.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Working with C Suite Executives and Executive Functional leaders to align and deliver the global HR strategy.
  • Leading annual HR business process calendar for Talent Assessment, Performance Management, Engagement Survey and Annual Compensation process for Corporate and Shared Service teams.
  • Ensuring legal compliance and best practices by developing and implementing HR policies and managing employee relations.
  • Designing organizational structure and recommending necessary HR programs and initiatives to support Novanta business objectives.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive employee experience by overseeing employee engagement, satisfaction, and wellness initiatives.
  • Coaching business leaders on human resource management policies, processes and systems.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Be able to develop and implement effective HR strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and have excellent business acumen.
  • Be a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and executive coaching skills.
  • Have a deep understanding of employment laws and regulations.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
  • Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials
