Job Description:

Microchip'sDiscrete Products Group (DPG)offers one of the industry's most comprehensive power and RF/microwave discrete semiconductor product portfolios. The DPG encompasses two business units, the Power Discrete & Modules BU and the RF/Microwave Discretes BU. Markets the PDM & RF/MW Discrete BUs address include alternative energy, industrial, medical, defense, commercial aviation, communications, embedded systems, motor control, power solutions, sensors, and security. Microchip is planning to fill the following positions with a group of talented, creative, and motivated individuals. A generous package is offered to all regular full-time employees.

SUMMARY

Microchip is currently seeking a first shift Production Specialist to join our Discrete Products Post-Assembly Team. In this role, you will assist in a variety of finishing operations such as those listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Apply solder coatings to assembled devices using soldering irons, manual and automatic solder dip machines.
  • Perform marking operations using various offset ink marking machines and laser engraving machines.
  • Perform various part cleaning operations such as alcohol soaking, ultrasonic washing, soda blast, etc.
  • Visual inspection of solder finishes and marking quality using microscopes.
  • Must have good manual dexterity using small tools such as tweezers.
  • Must be comfortable performing simple mechanical tasks using tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc.
  • Meet minimum quality & quantity standards.
  • Interact with co-workers and management in a professional manner.
  • Apply acquired job skills and follow company policies, practices, and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, listen, stand, and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision as needed with and without the use of a magnifying lamp and microscope.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1- or 2-years solid work experience in a high paced manufacturing environment.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent education/experience.
  • Excellent visual capability to work with extremely small electronic components, without magnification devices.
  • Excellent manual dexterityand patience for repetitive work.
  • Experience using tweezers, vacuum pencils, etc.
  • Good English verbal/written communication skills.

  • Substantial understanding of the job and ability to apply knowledge and skills to complete tasks.
  • Easily adapt to change in the workplace.
