Job Description:

Microchip is seeking a new college graduate to join our Planning team at our Lowell, Massachusetts manufacturing site.

The Planner's key responsibility is to review sales order demand and forecasts for multiple products, work with members of our Production, Purchasing, Sales Support, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Component Ops and Engineering teams to assign a schedule date. They will drive to meet that schedule date and communicate complications and status changes as needed.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling Sales Orders based upon customers' requested ship dates as well as factory and supplier constraints.
  • Creating and monitoring Production Orders to drive the factory.
  • Implementing planning changes that optimize available resources, reduce waste, and improve cycle times.
  • Working closely with purchasing to drive work at contract manufacturers.
  • Coordinating production workflow for multiple products.
  • Working closely with Inventory Control personnel to research inventory errors and ensure that material transactions are done accurately.
  • Optimizing inventory levels through effective use of MRP, available reports and other planning tools.
  • Monitoring part structures (BoMs and Routes) for errors and initiating corrections.
  • Monitoring and finessing item planning attributes such as minimum inventory levels.
  • Escalating issues that threaten adherence to schedule dates.
  • Providing delivery statuses to Global Sales Support personnel.
  • Summarizing and reporting adherence to committed dates.

Requirements/Qualifications:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a self-starter team player who is willing to ask questions and learn from experts.
  • Be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess a sense of ownership of their product lines.
  • Drive towards meeting deadlines and achieving customer satisfaction.
  • Work independently.
  • Have experience with the Microsoft suite of Office tools, particularly Excel.
  • Be comfortable analyzing data and using lean principles to drive decisions.
  • Be able to understand complex multi-level manufactured assemblies and how the different subassemblies and components come together.

Required:

  • A bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in Supply Chain, Operations Management or Data Analytics.
  • Success in managing a project, either academic or work-based.
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
