Inventory Control Cycle Counter

High Liner Foods is proud to be the leading North American processor and marketer of value-added frozen seafood. We are seeking a Inventory Control Cycle Counter to become the newest member of our Inventory Control Team. The position will be based out of our Portsmouth, NH facility.

You will be responsible for: Leading inventory cycle counts and other work order reconciliations.

Job Scope:

Works under periodic supervision of Inventory Control Management. Follows standard guidelines, procedures, oral and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. May assist with training and checking the work of warehouse personnel. Resolves a variety of questions and problems. Refers the most complex issue to higher levels.

Job Summary:

  • Proactively identify variances and discrepancies, follow through with proper reconciliation
  • Ensuring that the warehouse is audit-ready from an Inventory Control perspective
  • Partake in daily work order reconciliations along with trim traceability/consolidation tasks
  • Responsible to perform a minimum of at least 3 full Cycle Counts of the Portsmouth Facility annually
    • Job Duties:

    • Complete daily reports to include but not limited to E1/BOSS variance, in-transit, empty/frozen locations, etc.
    • Complete weekly reports as needed/requested
    • Cycle count. Note: The volume of cycle counts daily is determined by the number of locations in the warehouse and number of working days in the year. The volume may fluctuate depending on productivity and other business requirements that are prioritized
    • Gather requested information for all High Liner departments as assigned by Inventory Control Analyst or Manager, Inventory Control.
    • Document and report safety concerns in the warehouse, especially upper level racks.
    • Clean upper level racks of debris while cycle counting.
    • Accurate cycle counts with extraordinary attention to detail. Follow through with corrective action if discrepancies are identified while counting. Inform management of any systematic or physical obstructions to meeting cycle count quotas.
    • Support warehouse as needed.
    • Research and reconcile warehouse variances as they occur during receiving, shipping, WO transactions. Address and resolve issues with urgency in a timely matter.
    • Assist with systematic and physical disposal of approved material (G Hold as advised)
    • Assist with counting inventory to resolve customer and freight claims
    • Assist, as needed, with Inventory Control functions beyond Portsmouth warehouse. This includes, but is not limited to: other internal HLF warehouses, third party warehouse management and reconciliation, customer sales orders, etc.
    • Assist Analyst, Supervisor and/or Manager of Inventory Control with internal and external audits.
    • Communicate verbally or electronically in a professional manner with other departments including Production, Warehouse & Logistics, Sales, Quality Assurance, and more.
    • Assist Inventory Control team members in other locations as needed (Newport News, Peabody, Lunenburg)
    Qualifications Required:

    • H.S. diploma or GED (some college coursework preferred).
    • Previous high lift (Preferred) or Forklift experience
    • Ability to operate a Cherry picker and Scissor lift.
    • Ability to count accurately with no margin for error.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
    • Experience with an AS 400 based WMS or other WMS, including RF tools
    • Well-developed and demonstrated organization, problem solving, attention to detail, interpersonal, negotiation, and communications skills.
    • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal and written instructions and communicate fluently in English.
    • Reliability in attendance and performance.
    • Flexibility and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Willingness to work overtime as required, including some Saturdays, and as needed during physical inventories.
    • Ability to lift 66 lbs
    • Ability to work for extended periods in a cold environment (-10F).
    • Ability to work for extended periods of time in warm environments (outside ambient)
    • To operate the Raymond Order Picker machine, operator must be less than 420 LBs which is the maximum load authorized for the Safety Harness and Lanyard. This is mandated as part of HLF Fall Protection safety rules as well as OSHA compliance. Prior to using the machine, operator must be instructed by a certified trainer for safe and correct operation of the machine.
    • If the operator exceeds the 420 LB maximum, the operator shall use a forklift truck to lower pallets from the upper levels to count during cycle counts.
    • Operator may also use a scissor lift as an alternative if available if equipment is available
