We are seeking a Youth Advocate as part of CTI's Youth Services team located at the Youth Opportunity Center. The Youth Advocate is responsible for engaging and advocating for Youth and Young Adults. Provides support in accessing community connection, access to the Mill You day program and leads/organizes the Youth Advisory Board to advocate and empower Young Adults as leaders in their community. Provides direct support and care to at-risk youth.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify and engage youth, with targeted efforts to empower leaders.
  • Lead Youth Advisory board meetings and sub-committees with the guidance of the YAB and its constituents; Oversee sub-committees and focus groups for YAB.
  • Support in the development of YAB agendas; co-facilitate meetings as scheduled.
  • Prioritize issues that reflect the focus of the YAB leadership.
  • Organization and support of initiatives of the YAB to state and local leaders.
  • Advocating and relaying the needs/intentions of the YAB community to Program Manager and Youth Services staff to support program growth and development.
  • Collaborate with Youth Advisory Boards from across the state.

Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • Prior relevant experience required.
  • Prior assessment, advocacy and case management work.
  • Experience in team building and leadership development.
  • Experience working collaboratively with young adults and understand their level of resourcefulness and resilience.
  • Able to utilize or be trained in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and positive youth development principles.
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with youth housing instability and homelessness service systems.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
