The opportunity

As a Counseling Faculty member, you will support specified online programs through teaching, providing student support, offering subject-matter expertise, mentoring adjunct faculty, and engaging in administrative activities in service of the institution. You will teach standardized, pre-developed online courses within a 10-week (graduate) or 8-week (undergraduate) term structure. Your expertise and credentials will allow you to contribute to the continuous improvement of the student experience and success, program quality, oversight, and curriculum development. In addition to teaching, you may serve in varied academic administrative capacities to help ensure that programs, courses, and instruction are of high quality and meet the institutional promise to students.

You will report to one of the Counseling Program Directors. This role is remote. #LI-Remote

You'll Get To:

  • Teach 48 credit hours annually in graduate programs and 60 credit hours annually in undergraduate programs or as determined by professional accreditation requirements (8-10 graduate courses; all 3-credit hour courses).
  • Adhere to all instructional principles and strategies that engage students in learning, when serving as a course instructor while following the pre-determined course design and textbook materials.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to students, academic advisors, and team leads in accordance with faculty expectations and requirements. This includes providing students with weekly instructional announcements, responding to all student inquiries, discussion boards, or other posts promptly. Providing rubric feedback throughout the term, and providing final grade assessments and posting grades within 48 hours after the assignment submission date.
  • Provide engagement and outreach including students who have not logged into the learning platform, engaging students who are not moving through their diagnostic-identified learning path in a timely manner, and reinforcing course concepts through professional experience, in field development or conducting synchronous webinars.
  • Adhere to the Instructional Practices Rubric and faculty performance standards.
  • Be a professional advisor to students to support students' sense of connection to the program, provide career advice, provide capstone support, and enhance program retention as determined by the respective program.
  • Participate in program specific events including graduation activities, academic residencies, professional development activities, etc. as assigned. Travel required.
  • Impact student experience and success positively by supporting implementation and participating in related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with enrollment and student advisors to support program growth and student persistence, while maintaining a high level of communication with the student's advisor.
  • Provide exceptional student service in every interaction, which includes never giving up on a student who is putting forth the effort to achieve their goals, demonstrating care and commitment, and helping students.
  • Serve on standing and ad hoc academic committees as assigned through online participation model.
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts including process documentation, accreditation reports, evaluation of performance against benchmarks and policies, procedures, handbook and guides.
  • Engage in any scholarly and professional activities required to contribute to one's academic discipline, maintain licensure and/or compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies that have jurisdiction over the faculty's respective program.
  • Participate in curriculum oversight. For example, evaluating programs, evaluating courses, serving as subject matter expert or program coordinator in course development process.
  • Use any necessary systems to accomplish the responsibilities and expectations of the role as described herein.
  • Engage in other institutional service and scholarship duties as assigned.
  • Travel to the face-to-face residencies (1 week of every 10-week term) is expected.
  • Other responsibilities or activities may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

What We're Looking For:

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program (must meet the CACREP definition of "core" faculty)

Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: Yes No

  • Current or previous licensure as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor preferred
  • Travel to the face-to-face residencies (1 week of every 10-week term) is expected
  • 1+ years college level teaching experience
