Job Description
Description

Dr. Shadi Esfahani and Dr. Umar Mahmood in the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Theranostic Sciences at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School are inviting applicants for a postdoctoral research fellow to join our team to pursue research in molecular imaging and therapy of pre-clinical cancer models. We have developed a suite of novel molecularly targeted PET and therapeutic probes to interrogate tumors in pre-clinical settings and have translated some of the PET imaging probes to the clinic. We are seeking a research fellow to develop and assess strategies to deploy these probes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer models to improve cancer care. These positions provide unique opportunities to explore creative ideas in a supportive and collaborative environment as well as translate our approaches to clinical practice. The appointment at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School research fellow will be for 1-2 years with the possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a desire to begin an independent career related to pre-clinical or translational quantitative molecular imaging and treatment of cancer. Qualified candidates will have a PhD in biology, biomedical engineering, molecular imaging, chemistry, or a related field. Prior experience in some of the items below is required:

4) MR and/or PET image acquisition and analysis;

5) working with small animals and creation of animal models;

6) wet lab skills including cell culture, cell and tissue immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining, western blot, and flow cytometry;

7) synthetic chemistry / radiochemistry

A track record of publication and excellent written and oral English communication skills are required. The candidate should have a strong interest and commitment to research.

Outside of their own projects, the fellow will also be responsible for teaching and supervising students and research technicians working on related projects.
