Job Details:

I. GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Communications Manager will be a member of the Center for Community-Engaged Medicine at Tufts Medical Centers Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies (ICRHPS). The Communications Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to develop and implement communication strategies for the center. The Communications Manager will be responsible for identifying and prioritizing communication opportunities, and developing and implementing communications plans for our programs.

II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Communications Manager will use our communications assets to develop new content, and to develop relationships and broaden existing collaborations with agencies and organizations that serve children and families around the country.
  • The Communications Manager will work with leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for expanding our reach and producing resources that support the goals of our programs.
  • The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic communications program for the center, including data-based decisions regarding content for our newsletters, social media feeds, blogs and website(s), as well as content creation in collaboration with other team members.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong customer service focus and experience with and commitment to diverse populations.
  • Excellent editing, writing and research skills.
  • Facile with social media and website applications.
  • Basic understanding of SEO.
  • Experience with growing an audience on social media
  • Experience with multimedia (video/audio/graphic design) content creation for different formats, including: long-form blogs, social media, and press releases.
  • Experience with Wordpress, Canva, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop or equivalent.
  • Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Strong commitment to advancing health equity.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years progressively responsible experience with at least 3 years in communications work for a mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in message development and communications strategies.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with outward facing communication, including press releases, newsletters, marketing materials, and social media.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal office work environment. Hybrid in-person and remote work, with an expectation of at least two days per week in our Boston office.
