Reliant Medical Group in Worcester has an opening for a full-time Lead Breast Ultrasound Technologist. This position oversees breast ultrasound services across multiple locations in the local area, and very limited travel between them may be required.

Primary Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Ultrasound Supervisor, this role provides technical and administrative leadership for the Breast Imaging Department

  • In addition to the principal duties and responsibilities of a staff sonographer, the Lead Breast Ultrasound Technologist will assist the Ultrasound Supervisor in coordinating the daily operations of the Breast Imaging Department and facilitate outstanding patient care
  • Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with department leadership, ordering providers, radiologists, staff technologists, and support staff
  • Work with the Ultrasound Supervisor and Lead Radiologist to coordinate daily patient flow, imaging protocols updates, and workflow enhancements
  • Maintain accurate records of performed and interpreted exams and procedures within Breast Imaging
  • Monitor compliance with recommendations for follow-up studies
  • Oversee the maintenance and tracking of pathological results from biopsies
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance for exams and equipment as established by the department. Identifies equipment problems and communicates to immediate supervisor
  • Track inventory and place supplies orders for the Breast Imaging Department as needed
  • Assist Ultrasound Supervisor with ACR accreditation, organizational assessments, and state inspections as needed. Assist clerical and support staff as necessary
  • Aid Ultrasound Supervisor in the training and ongoing development of breast imaging technologists and support staff as required
  • Perform related administrative duties as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an AMA accredited ultrasound program or equivalent
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certified and maintain this certification during employment
  • Certified in breast imaging by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Maintain all required continuing education credits and licensure during employment
  • 3+ years ultrasound experience
  • Competent to perform ultrasound exams on newborns, children, adults, and geriatric patients, meeting all department guidelines
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment operations, imaging techniques, protocols, and equipment troubleshooting
  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
